Easy directions to Heartland Ranch Venue

From State Route 512, take the Northwest Trek exit to Meridian/ hwy 161 south to Mount Rainier. Drive past the sprawling metropolis of Puyallup, South hill and Graham, crest Graham hill, and watch the trees replace the buildings! Take a left at 304th/Kapowsin Hwy, the last light before Eatonville. Heartland Ranch is the very first driveway on the left, not to be mistaken for the gravel road, 106th Ave. From Sumner, Orting or Bonney Lake, you can choose to take the winding backroad through the forest. From hwy 162, turn south down either Orting Kapowsin Hwy or Orville Road. Proceed until Kapowsin Hwy. Turn or proceed West down Kapowsin Hwy. Heartland Ranch Venue will be on the Right, the very next driveway after 106th Ave. Signs are placed during event weekends!

Who owns Heartland Ranch Venue?

Heartland Ranch Venue is owned and operated by Mike and Marcia O’Brien with the help of their children and grandchildren. After decades of building custom homes with their business O’Brien Construction, their son, Marc, decided to use the property for his own wedding. In 2013 the seed was planted where Marc and Erin (myself) tied the knot. Marc and Erin are becoming more involved with Heartland Ranch Venue and will be transitioning to the manager and potential owners in the next few years.

What is the best part of Heartland Ranch Venue?

Heartland Ranch Venue has many beautiful features, my absolute favorite is the view of Mount Rainier behind the ceremony! Mount Rainier has shown her magnificent glory at dozens of events at Heartland Ranch Venue right in your backyard in Graham! But Mt Rainier isn’t the only feature that sets Heartland Ranch Venue apart from other outdoor venues in Pierce County! I think my second favorite feature is split 3 ways between the adorable bar building with a live edge slab bartop, the heart-shaped pond with a picturesque railing, and the acres of tall grass field. The 10′ x 10′ bar building is a quaint western-style, board and batten building ready to serve your guests that signature cocktail for your wedding! There are 3 huge live-edge slabs of finished wood for the bartop and counters. Behind the bar, the servers can use the installed ice trays to keep the alcohol or mocktails cool and refreshing. Finishing off the ambiance, are patio bistro lights to give the glow of love above the drinks! Heartland Ranch Venue received it’s name by the accidental heart-shaped pond! 28 years ago, the tractor was digging a pond during the construction of the Victorian inspired main residence, Marcia noticed how large the pond was getting and rushed to stop the tractor! It wasn’t until years later when a friend brought an aerial view (pre google earth) and showed the Heart shape of the pond! A lot of brides have used the pond to get a reflective photo worthy of a canvas! Lastly on my faves is the tall grass field! Heartland Ranch Venue is set on 9 acres of mature trees, apple orchard and tall grasses left just for photo ops! Marcia does an excellent job keeping the grounds manicured, but there is something special about the natural summer grass of the Pacific Northwest! A path beyond the reception is mowed to create a path into the treed pasture. Brides often step just beyond the path and the photos are intriguing! Every so often, a cow photobombs the bride and groom!
